I had been working out in a 'regular gym' trying to be creative, making my own workouts but not really knowing enough to see the kinds of results I wanted to. One of the trainers at that gym actually recommended Real Fitness to me and he said he thought it would be a good challenge for me. I was so intimidated the first time I walked into Real Fitness and saw equiptment I had never seen or used before; not to mention athletes in incredible shape. I thought I was somewhat fit and healthy....but it didn't take long for me to realize that was not exactly true. I started with learning good form in all the movements, and then I started adding weight to those movements. It has been incredible to have a coach for every workout to correct form and help push me past what I think my limit is.
I don't have to spend any of my own time planning workouts, I can just show up at the gym and do work! In addition to the daily WODs, my coaches have helped me with so many other goals. My first pullup was probably the most exciting goal met! I've been coached in an additional strength program and am learning what to eat and when for optimal performance results. It has been awesome to have such well informed coaches to learn from. They all practice what they preach and are the best examples of what I am striving for, being super fit.
Although I have come a long way from my first day at Real Fitness I am still striving for more and realizing it's attainable with good instruction, knowledge and hard work. I have also been encouraged greatly by other members; and everyone is so welcoming and friendly that it's really like a family that you become a part of. I'm so glad I walked into the gym that first day and look forward to many more years of CrossFit!
